Lydia is a mobile app offering services aiming to make your social life easier such as the ability to organize money pots on your phone or to send money to friends and family.

Step 1: install the Lydia app

Before creating a Lydia account, users must install the Lydia app on their phone first. To do so, they simply navigate to:

  • App Store for Apple phones (iPhones)
  • Play Store for Android phones

& look for "Lydia” in the search box then tap "Download" or "Install."

Step 2: create a Lydia user account

To create an account, users must start the Lydia app on theirs phone. The Lydia home page pops up:

  1. On the first screen, users are asked to enter their telephone number, then tap "Let's go!".
  2. A verification code is sent via text message to check users have access to the number. Users are asked to enter this code to move on.
  3. On the third screen, users have to tick the boxes and then tap "Continue".
  4. On the next screen, a quick introduction page is displayed. Users must enter their first name, surname, email address, birth details (date, country, place and nationality) and specify their socio-professional category. Users can also accept communications if they want to (recommended).
  5. On the fifth screen, users need to configure biometrics. This is the quickest and easiest way to authenticate in the application. If users refuse, they can define a security code instead. This 4-digit code will be requested before each payment from Lydia.
  6. Users can then have their identity verified or skip this step. Users are advised to proceed with the identity verification fully enjoy Lydia. For the identity verification process, users will need to have a proof of identity and be able to record their face for the video selfie.
    1. If users have refused the identity verification, they will be able to access their new Lydia account right away
    2. If users chose to proceed with the identity verification, they must follow the instructions displayed on screen (see Identity verification). Once they have been verified, users can access their Lydia account.

Special situations and error messages

Instead of creating an acount, a "Hello [Name] " message pops up, with a name that is not the user's.

If the user entered a new number, this number might have previously been attributed to another Lydia user. In that case, the user can reach out to Lydia teams by sending an email explaining the situation to hello@lydia.me.

If the user remembers entering a wrong name during a previous registration, they can log in then change their name in their profile's settings in-app. Otherwise, the user can reach out to Lydia teams by sending an email explaining the situation to hello@lydia.me.
