Thanks to the Lydia application, users can send money to anyone without even having their bank details: a phone number, an email address suffice.

Customers using the Lydia app

Users need to tap "Send" on the home page and follow instructions from there.

Users can enter a phone number or an email address by tapping "Phone No. / email" or by searching their contacts if they gave access to the app.

After several transactions between the same customers, a list will appear suggesting recent recipients.

As with a bank account, it is one of the customer's accounts that will be debited. This means the selected account should have sufficient balance.

Users can even top up their account last minute using a bank card, Apple Pay or an instant transfer.

They must enter a message that explains the reason for the payment. They can also add a picture, which will be shared with the recipient.

Finally, if a customer does not recognise the recipient, he should write to customer service with the subject line "unknown recipient".

The recipient is a Lydia customer

The recipient is not a Lydia customer

They can tap on the link in the text message or email that was immediately sent to them. Doing so will lead them to a secure page where they can make the transfer request to their bank account.

They have 7 days to do so before the payment is cancelled.

For more information on minimum and maximum amounts, head to the Pring and limits page.

Non-user of the app

It is possible to send money without the app. To do so, the recipient must make a payment request.

This will send a payment link via text message or email.

Peer-to-peer Lydia payments cannot be used to purchase or sell goods or services from businesses and professionals. Some activities are also forbidden. To find out more, see article 13 of Terms of Service for Individuals.
