The Lydia app allows users to receive money from friends, contacts, or strangers, whether or not they use the Lydia app. Users can initiate a money transfer by requesting money.

A money request can be paid through the app, by card, or by bank transfer from a secure online payment page.

Make a request

There are several ways to request and receive money with Lydia:

  • Send a request to one or more phone numbers or to an email address
  • Ask another app user to display a Lydia payment QR code, then scan it to receive the funds
  • Users can also request a payment simply by sharing the link to their online page.

To prevent abuse, the number of pending or declined payment requests is limited each day.

View or cancel an active request

Pending requests appear at the top of the transaction history for 7 days.

Users can cancel a request at any time or send a reminder by SMS or email.

Requests expire automatically on the 8th day after they are sent. If the recipient has not responded within this period, the user will need to make a new request if they still wish to receive the money.
If the request has already been accepted and the payment completed, see “Cancel a transaction.”

Accept a payment request sent by phone number or email

The recipient is notified immediately by SMS, email, or an in-app notification. They can decline or accept the request through the app or pay by bank card on a secure payment page (fees apply in the latter case).

The requester is notified of the payment by email and/or notification, depending on their communication preferences.
