The visitor can start creating a money pot on the Lydia.me website and then complete the process in the Lydia app. Here is how it works.
Create the money pot on the website
The visitor starts by entering the title and description of the money pot. They can then customize it with an emoji and a cover image, either selected from the options provided by Lydia or uploaded from their device.
To save the pre-created money pot, they must then enter their first and last name and email address.
The money pot is then temporarily saved. At this stage, it has not yet been published and cannot receive contributions: it must be activated in the Lydia app.
Confirm the creation in the Lydia app
Once the money pot has been pre-created, the website’s confirmation page allows the visitor to continue the process immediately in the Lydia app.
The pre-created money pot is kept for 24 hours from the time it is saved on the website.
- If the money pot is published within this period, the pre-created money pot is replaced by the final, published version.
- If the process is not completed within 24 hours, the pre-created money pot expires, and the visitor must start again from the website.
Open Lydia
- On a phone, they tap the “Open Lydia” button.
- On a computer, they scan the QR code displayed on the screen with their phone.
In both cases, the Lydia app opens so that they can resume creating the money pot. If the app isn't installed yet, they must download it from the App Store or Google Play, then use the button or QR code again.
Log in or create a Lydia profile
In the app:
- If the user is already logged in to a Lydia profile, they do not need to log in again.
- If they are not logged in, they must log in using their phone number or, if they do not yet have a Lydia profile, create one using their phone number.
In both cases, the email address associated with the Lydia profile must match the one entered when the money pot was pre-created. If it does not, the user can restart the pre-creation process using the email address associated with their Lydia profile.
Verify their identity
To publish the money pot, the user’s identity must be verified. If they have not yet completed this process, the app guides them through the necessary steps.
Publish the money pot
Once the user’s identity has been verified, the app displays the title of the pre-created money pot and asks the user to confirm its publication. They simply need to tap “Publish.”
The money pot is now active and ready to receive contributions. The user is then invited to share its link to start collecting contributions.
Resume the process from the email
Lydia also sends an email to the address entered during the pre-creation process. This email provides an alternative way for the visitor to retrieve their money pot if they have closed the web page, want to complete the process later, or encounter an issue with the button or QR code.
It contains a summary of the pre-created money pot and a link for resuming the process in the Lydia app. The money pot must still be confirmed in the app before it can receive contributions.
Report an unsolicited pre-created money pot
If the recipient receives an email about a money pot they did not pre-create, they should not publish it. They can report it using the link in the email or contact customer service. If they take no action, the pre-created money pot will expire automatically.
