Lydia does not charge a euro for adding a bank card.
Each time a customer adds a payment card to the application. Lydia asked the card-issuing bank to activate 3D Secure security. This action protects against card theft or unwanted use.
This security was designed several years ago to protect card transactions on the Internet. Lydia, like so many others, is therefore obligated to simulate a transaction in order to benefit from it. To add a card, a transaction of €1 is made.
However, Lydia never charges this €1. A card authorization is requested, then cancelled.
A very rarely visible operation
The vast majority of customers never see this operation, but some immediate debit cards, such as prepaid cards, notify their customers in real-time of Lydia's authorization.
Also, some card issuers do not interpret the cancellation of Lydia's card authorization and therefore ait up to 10 days to cancel it. During this time, the €1 is blocked by the card, but remains on the customer's account. It never reaches Lydia.
